The MJX Hyper Go range has been the yardstick for hobby-grade brushless RC at the ~£120 mark for a couple of years, and for 2026 the whole 1:16 range has had a proper refresh. The 16212 is the new-generation truggy in the line-up, and it steps in for the outgoing 16210.
What's changed is what most 16210 owners were quietly asking for. The 16212 keeps the truggy character we all liked (mid ride height, wide track, big wheelbase) but wraps it in a body that looks a whole lot better, and drops a much bigger battery in the box. The old 16210 was a solid car with a look that never quite matched its performance. The 16212 fixes that. Red-white-blue Hyper Go livery, proper rear wing, aggressive stance. It looks like it means business, because it does.
Underneath, it's the proven MJX Hyper Go platform: 2845 four-pole brushless motor with cooling fan and metal heat sink, 45A brushless ESC, 17g digital steering servo, and full metal drivetrain (metal drive shaft, powder metallurgy gears, metal CVDs, metal differentials). Metal oil-filled shocks all round, full ball bearings, water-resistant and dust-proof electronics, and the updated 2.4GHz T3D transmitter with a proper variable throttle limiter pot (a big step up from the 70%/100% switch on the old range's remote): dial in exactly the top speed you want, for whoever's driving.
The big update for 2026 is what's in the box. The 16212 ships with a 2S 2000mAh battery, nearly double the capacity of the pack the old 16210 came with. That means noticeably longer runtimes and a proper punch off the line. Top speed on the stock 2S is up to 46km/h in ideal conditions on a smooth surface, and if you fit a 3S pack it'll do up to 70km/h in the same conditions. For most drivers, most of the time, the stock 2S is the sweet spot on this platform: quick enough to be genuinely exciting, controllable enough to actually enjoy, and easier to keep the right way up. The 16212 is fully 3S capable whenever you want to unlock the flat-out mad end of the range, or do some speedruns, no other modifications required.
Ride height sits at 33mm, the truggy-style middle ground between the low-slung 16213 buggy and the taller-riding 16218 monster truck. Confident off-road, planted on hard surfaces, at home just about anywhere you'd want to run it.

Recommended for most ages. Younger drivers can absolutely enjoy this car with adult supervision; the new T3D transmitter has a proper variable throttle limiter pot (not the 70%/100% switch of the old range), so you can dial the top speed all the way down for tiny hands and inch it up as their skills grow. All children are different, so if in doubt, or they can't be trusted not to set it to max speed the minute you turn your back, they should always be supervised!
